Our work

Care programs

WE START WITH CARE.

In line with broader AMPATH principles, we know that in order to truly help people, we should think not just about treatment, but also about entire lives: families, jobs, education, and futures. It’s all connected. That’s why our programs are set up to first help people survive, and then to help them thrive.

Our process

1. COLLABORATE TO IDENTIFY GOALS

Work alongside communities to identify their goals and priorities, both immediate and long-term. We work hand-in-hand with community leaders, stakeholders and health committees to ensure our work is responsive to community priorities and includes community ownership. To help further strengthen community leadership and participation in health we are preparing to launch a promotor/a (community health worker) initiative.

2. CONNECT PEOPLE WITH CARE

Support people and communities on their path to sustainable health including access to timely and high-quality healthcare. Because of the high burden of chronic diseases in Mexico, we are particularly focused on the prevention, early detection and regular holistic follow-up of people living with chronic health problems such as diabetes, heart and kidney disease and cancer.

3. EXPAND BEYOND CARE

Partner with communities so they achieve their own success, connect people with health insurance, identify wrap-around services to support medical and health care, train the next generation medical professionals and engage in research to create and enhance innovative support systems.
